Elgin workshop to offer career planning assistance

Individuals in need of career planning assistance can participate in a career discovery workshop offered by Elgin Community College's Career Services Office.

Each two-hour session will be held at the college, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, on the following dates and times: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9; 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15; 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 27; 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13; 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24; 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3; 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16; 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5; and 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 16.

The workshops will provide participants with an overview of the career planning process and the resources that exist at ECC to help them throughout the process. In addition, participants will complete The Self-Directed Search, a career-planning tool which helps match an individual's interests with possible careers and educational opportunities.
