Jaycees, Medieval Times to attempt to break world record at Naperville Last Fling

Hear ye, hear ye! Calling all citizens of Chicago's west suburbs and beyond for a chance to be crowned World Record holders.

On Sunday, Sept. 2, the crowd at Naperville's Last Fling will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "Most People Wearing Paper Crowns" with the help of paper crown experts, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament.

The highly-attended, end-of-summer festival, organized by the Naperville Jaycees, will rally the community together in the hopes of conquering the existing World Record of 1,324 paper crowns worn at an event in India in 2013.

Taking place in the Family Fun Land area, check-in for event participants is Noon, and the record attempt is set to occur at 1:45 p.m.

Queen Dona Maria Isabella will lead the record-breaking attempt, dubbing the energetic hopefuls as Kings and Queens with paper crowns provided by Medieval Times.

All participants are required to don their crowns for at least five minutes. Additionally, attendees will enjoy music, dancing and encouragement from Knights dressed in full regalia, as they fulfill their royal duty to help claim the top spot over the more than half-decade-old incumbent.

Participants will be admitted in groups of 50 and given different colored wristbands and crowns to identify the total tally of record-attempting partakers.

Entry into the World Record event is free; however, Family Fun Land entry is not included ($5 for ages 12 and older). Direct entrance into the World Record event can be accessed at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster.

Interested participants are encouraged to register online in advance at the following link: www.eventbrite.com.
