Danish artist returns with West Chicago-inspired cookbook

West Chicago: May 17, 2011 - Mexico City-based Danish artist Gitte Bog, who arrived in West Chicago in spring 2010 as an artist in residence, returns to West Chicago to launch the cookbook made in collaboration with the citizens of West Chicago.

In May 2010, Gitte Bog spent 3 weeks in West Chicago working on her project: "West Chicago Cookbook of Fusion Food". During this period, Bog found her way into the hearts of community members via their stomachs, by developing a series of truly West Chicago-inspired recipes. According to Anni Holm, member of the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission and co-founder of People Made Visible, "This book 'tastefully' describes our diverse community and provides an opportunity to meet, greet and eat our way to each other, from the comfort of our own kitchen!"

The limited edition cookbook will be available for a donation of just $10 (usual price $15) at People Made Visible's tent on Main Street during Blooming Fest on May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The artist will be on hand to answer questions about the project as well as sign cookbooks. Besides Blooming Fest, copies will be available at artXposium at Gallery 200/STUDIO from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday May 20; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 21; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 22.

To reserve a copy in advance, please email People Made Visible at: info@peoplemadevisible.com

This project was organized by People Made Visible in collaboration with the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission and the West Chicago City Museum.
