Boy Scouts to honor community leaders Nov. 16

The Boy Scouts of America, Three Fires Council is inviting residents to attend the Kane and DuPage County Distinguished Citizen Luncheon. It will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Hotel Arista, 2139 CityGate Lane, Naperville. Registration and reception begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon and formal ceremony at noon.

The 2011 Distinguished Citizen honoree is Daniel F. Rigby, president/CEO of HRMS in Naperville. The Corporate Honoree is Batavia Enterprises Inc., and the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award will be presented to Anthony Franklin Sr.

The Distinguished Citizen and Corporate awards recognize members of the Kane and DuPage counties who have dedicated themselves to community service and to the welfare and development of its youth.

The Whitney M.Young Jr. Service Award recognizes outstanding services demonstrated in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income backgrounds.

Past award recipients include dignitaries such as Dennis Hastert, former U.S. Speaker of the House; Gordon Flesh Company; Richard J. McCann of McCann Industries; former Gov. James R. Thompson; and Caterpillar Inc.
