Call for DuPage Co. sculptors, 3-D artists

Artists with ties to DuPage County are invited to participate in the third annual DuPage Invitational Sculpture & 3-D Art Show.

This highly-anticipated event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 in the historic Lilacia Park during Lombard‘s Annual Lilac Time Celebration. Lilacia Park is located at 227 W. Parkside Ave. in Lombard, near Main Street and directly across from the Metra Station.

Promotion for the event will be included in the Lilac Time Celebration brochures.

“Every year, the DuPage Sculpture & 3-D Art Show gets better,” said event chair and Lombard Village Board Trustee from District 5, Laura Fitzpatrick. “The student artists look forward to honing their talent and presenting their work in a glorious setting — while vying for important scholarship money to continue their pursuits in the arts,” she said. “Our established artists get a chance to shine and gain community exposure in a public venue unlike any other in the county.”

The show is open to artists who were born, reside, work, or go to school in DuPage County, and who practice in the arts of indoor/outdoor sculpture and multidimensional works.

Show organizers invite not only established area artists, but also outstanding emerging student artists from county area high schools and colleges, as well. Special participation fees are in place for student artists under age 25.

Entries for indoor and outdoor works will be accepted. Each original design must be a minimum of 2 feet in any direction; only 18 inches in any direction for high school students.

Works will be juried and judged with prize money awarded to the top established artists, and scholarships awarded to the most outstanding college and high school student artists. Last year, more than $4,000 in prizes and scholarships were awarded. Dignitaries from surrounding DuPage communities and businesses will be invited to attend the event and may consider the

art for purchase.

Detailed information about the event can be found in the application and participation packet which may be downloaded at www.dupagesculpture.org.

The application must be postmarked by March 1.
