The quick hit: Both teams need to win this SCC Gold game for playoff hopes. Connor Hendricks, who ran for more than 700 yards as a junior, makes his 2010 debut in the Knights' homecoming. A key battle up front: IC's Robert Rivera vs. ACC's Kent Brauweiler.

The quick hit: Benet's Connor Nelligan keeps impressing in every phase of the game. Between receptions, passes and interception returns he's accounted for 10 TDs. The top challenge on defense is slowing Carmel's ground game that's averaging 360 yards.
Bloom (1-4) at Glenbard South (1-4)
Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.
The quick hit: Both teams need a victory to remain playoff eligible. Bad timing for Glenbard South, which is nursing several injuries. On the bright side sophomores Matt Loos, a running back, and linebacker Trent Pohlman stepped up and emerged as talents.
Downers South (3-2, 2-0) at Proviso East (0-5, 0-2)
Game time: 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The quick hit: Downers South running back Josh Williams rushed for 128 yards and 6 touchdowns last week in a little more than a half. The Mustangs, who have outscored West Suburban Gold opponents 83-0, look to hand Proviso East its fourth shutout loss.
East Aurora (0-5, 0-2) at Lake Park (0-5, 0-3)
Game time: 7:30 p.m. today
The quick hit: Working as hard as ever, Lake Park aims for its first win in this UEC Valley tilt. Confidence built by sophomore quarterback Zach Gehant throwing to sophomore Kevin Teglia on a Week 5 TD drive capped by sophomore Ronnie Castaldo's run will help.
Glenbard East (3-2, 1-2) at Glenbard North (5-0, 3-0)
Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.
The quick hit: Rams offensive lineman Tim Sullivan out last season with a knee injury is anchoring a solid unit. Glenbard North running back Phil Jackson rushed for 200 yards last week as the Panthers spelled Evin Natick on offense due to a mild injury.
Hinsdale South (2-3, 1-1) at Morton (2-3, 1-2)
Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.
The quick hit: The Hornets look to rebound from their ninth straight loss to Hinsdale Central. Kicker Nick Sarocco provided a spark last week with a pair of field goals. Morton, meanwhile, couldn't hold last week's 15-13 fourth-quarter lead on Leyden.
Larkin (2-3) at Waubonsie Valley (4-1)

The quick hit: Quarterback Tommy Kolzow (concussion) looks to return after Matt Schapen filled in fine the past two weeks. Tight end Mark Szott (thigh) should be up to speed after limited snaps this week. Larkin receiver Trevor Whitehead must be contained.
Leyden (2-3, 1-2) at Willowbrook (1-4, 1-2)

The quick hit: Leyden quarterback Joey DiFronzo rallied the Eagles to victory over Morton, throwing 3 touchdown passes including one in the fourth quarter. Willowbrook's rough loss to Downers South featured 5 turnovers and no passing yards.
Lisle (2-3, 2-1) at Reed-Custer (1-4, 1-2)

The quick hit: In a playoff run with little margin for error, quarterback Nick Saul comes off his best game in a 34-27 overtime win at Dwight. He was 16-of-27 passing for over 200 yards, 3 touchdowns. Senior Mitch McCarthy broke out on both "O" and "D."
Oak Park (1-4, 0-3) at Hinsdale Central (2-3, 0-2)
Game time: Noon, Saturday.
The quick hit: Oak Park catches its breath this week after losing four games to unbeaten opponents. Hinsdale Central and quarterback Alex Hodakowski overcame injuries to two-way standout Jake Knowles and offensive lineman Jack Allen to beat Hinsdale South.
Proviso West (3-2, 0-2) at Downers North (1-4, 0-2)
Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.
The quick hit: Last week Glenbard West caught a glimpse of Proviso West's big-play potential with two long touchdown passes from Malik Thurman to Ryan Woods. Downers North quarterback Riley McGinnis, who threw for 170 yards last week, is coming alive.
St. Francis (3-2, 0-2) at Walther Lutheran (2-3, 0-2)
Game time: 1 p.m. Saturday
The quick hit: Walther Lutheran's Sean Cotton, Tyreese Russell have great skills. Aiming for a 4-2 mark before three straight home games, Spartans seniors Bobby Miller, Colin O'Donnell, Mike Yanan & Co. look to tire them out by defending the misdirection offense.
West Chicago (1-4, 0-3) at West Aurora (2-3, 0-3)

The quick hit: Brad Wilson and the Wildcats' running game keeps pounding out yardage. Tonight they hope it translates into their first win since Week 1. After challenging Naperville North and Wheaton North, the Blackhawks are anxious to notch their first DVC win.
Wheaton Academy (4-1, 2-0) at Chicago Christian (1-4, 0-2)

The quick hit: After their first loss, to St. Francis, the Warriors will want this before playing IC, Montini and St. Edward. Kai Libby looks to duplicate his 110 yards rushing, 3 touchdowns, while Luke Thorson will spy Chicago Christian quarterback Jason VanderLaan.
York (5-0, 3-0) at Lyons Twp. (5-0, 3-0)
Game time: 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The quick hit: York's offense struggled for consistency last week, something the Dukes can't afford against the Lions. Ryan Kent persevered to rush for 107 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. The Lions struggled against Oak Park, but also remain unbeaten.
