March 26: Enjoy the music of Carole King and James Taylor at CLC

Immerse yourself in the timeless music of Carole King and James Taylor with "You've Got a Friend," a concert that pays homage to the rich musical legacy of two prolific songwriters.

The show will be presented at 4 p.m. March 26 in the Mainstage Theatre at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County in Grayslake.

Presented by two long-time friends and collaborators, hit songwriter Kirsti Manna and national recording artist Jonathan Birchfield, this nostalgic concert celebrates the iconic music, lyrics and melodies of King and Taylor, capturing the essence of friendship through music.

Sharing their unique artistry and onstage chemistry - Manna's incredible piano and vocals and Birchfield's velvet-toned vocals and virtuoso guitar - this concert will appeal to generations of music lovers as these two artists honor a musical legacy that led them to become songwriters and performers themselves.

In 2010, King and Taylor held their long awaited "Live at the Troubadour" reunion. Manna and Birchfield were so inspired that they created a show based on this timeless music.

"'You've Got a Friend' isn't just a song title to us," said Manna. "It's our opportunity to pay homage to the music, the lyrics and the melodies that moved us to become songwriters and performers."

Manna and Birchfield have years of touring, performing and writing between them. They have shared the stage with such artists as Brooks and Dunn, Ray Charles, Jimmy Buffett, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and have appeared on the Grand Ole Opry.

Both artists have frequently been stylistically compared to Carole King and James Taylor. Now, with the same amazing onstage chemistry as those superstars, they take their audiences back in time with favorites like "How Sweet It Is," "Carolina in My Mind," "I Feel the Earth Move," and of course, "You've Got a Friend."
