Halloween fun and thrills at Fox River Trolley Museum

The leaves are turning, the frost is on the pumpkin, and there are fall activities aplenty going on at the Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin!

It's time to pick out a pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch at Coleman Yard. The Pumpkin Trolley will operate two weekends - Oct. 17-18, 24-25 - from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular fares of $4, $3 for senior citizens, and $2 for children, age 3-11, apply, with children under 3 riding free. Pumpkins are $2 apiece for all ages. Children and adults alike can choose from the pumpkins from the Pumpkin Patch at Coleman Yard.

Tickets are still available for the reserved-seating, after-hours "Ghost Story Trains" on Sundays, Oct. 18 and 25, at 5, 6:15 and 7:30 p.m.

Take the trolley to a roaring campfire on the banks of the Fox River, hear ghoulishly delightful ghost stories, make s'mores and more! The trains will entertain children, their daddies and mummies!

The fare for this special train are $13.20 for all ages, handling included. Reserve seats online today at www.foxtrolley.org. No passes will be honored, and there will be no refunds or exchanges unless a train is canceled.

The museum's popular "Polar Express" trains are sold out. Tickets for 2015 Polar Express trips will go on sale next June 1.

The events are the last of the museum's regular 2015 season, which ends Oct. 25.
