CLC Theatre to present 'Doctor Dolittle'

A children's theater production of "Doctor Dolittle" will be presented by the College of Lake County Theatre department Oct. 2-5.

Performances for school groups will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, and Friday, Oct. 3. Public performances will be held at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. The play will be presented in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.

All of the characters that audiences have come to love through Hugh Lofting's stories are given new life in this entertaining stage adaptation. The story centers on Doctor Dolittle's amazing discovery that the animals he is treating can talk. Doctor Dolittle and his new friends go on one adventure after another, journeying from a small English village to the far corners of the world. Along the way, audiences will learn valuable lessons about kindness to animals and the wisdom of all Earth's creatures.

This classic story has charmed readers of all ages for generations and is especially suited for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. It is based on the book by Hugh Lofting and was dramatized by Olga Fricker. Directed by Thomas B. Mitchell, the one-hour production features CLC students and community members.

Tickets are $8 (includes a JLC $2 facility fee). Other fees may apply to Internet purchases. Groups of six or more are eligible for discounted ticket prices.
