Music on Stage Presents Meet Me In St. Louis

Music on Stage Celebrates 57th Seasons of Musical Theatre in Palatine

submitted by Music on Stage

Currently in its 57th year, Music on Stage is pleased to present a season of family-friendly musicals at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, located at 150 East Wood Street in Palatine, IL.

Meet Me In St. Louis, the heart-warming family-friendly musical runs through September 21st . Meet Me In St. Louis features a cast of Music on Stage veterans as well as quite a few newcomers. Based on the 1944 MGM Motion Picture starring Judy Garland, this feel-good production features such classic songs as "The Boy Next Door," "The Trolley Song" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." Kara Vombrack of Buffalo Grove stars as the plucky Esther Smith whose mission it is to snag the Boy Next Door ( David Geinosky of Elk Grove ) for her very own. The Smith family however has a dilemma. Mr. Smith has just announced that he will be moving the family lock, stock and barrel to New York before the start of the 1904 World's Fair. Disaster! What will the children do? Make new friends? Go to a new school? Join the family as they work through the most earth-shattering problems of the day. We will take you back to a simpler time, when the only care was what dress to wear to the dance and how much flour was too much to throw in the neighbor's face on Halloween night. Music on Stage veteran Jody Goldman of Lincolnshire stars as Katie, the family's feisty Irish maid.

The cast features Kathy Blaheta (Palatine), Rick Burd (Palatine), Esther Decatorsmith (Barrington), Jennie Goss (Elgin), Neal Heatherly (Palatine), Garrett Hershey (Crystal Lake), Rick Johnson (Bartlett ), Tamara Kist (Palatine), John McNally (Roselle) Blaise Mollet (Fox River Grove), Luke Rands (Cary), JoEllyn Romano (Elmhurst), Heather Scurtu (Chicago), Christine Shelton (Barrington), Mark Stickney (Berwyn), Aaron Stone (Chicago), Jim Sullivan (Rolling Meadows), Ariel Williams (Chicago), Delaney Wittlich (Algonquin) and Katie Zarletti of (Glenview).

Artistic Director Frank Roberts has assembled a cast that has all the heart of the MGM classic and more. Music Director Ann Stewart has been with Music on Stage since 1980 when she began as the accompanist for Once Upon A Mattress and soon became Music Director and Conductor for South Pacific in 1982. Ann has remained the Resident Music Director for the group ever since. Roberts and Stewart have worked together consistently since 1993. Frank reports that "Ann is the glue that holds the group together. While others have come through and moved on, she is the one constant. She wears many different hats, including that of the group's Treasurer and also serves on the Board of Directors. At 83 years old, I hope I have as much energy and passion as she does when I reach that age."

Back by popular demand, Music on Stage will present the smash hit Irving Berlin's White Christmas for one weekend only from December 19th through the 21st, 2014. Following White Christmas, the group will stage the Tony Award winning musical Hairspray, which runs from February 21st through March 8th, 2015. The group closes out the season with the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic "The Sound of Music," running from May 31st through June 14th, 2015.
