Volunteers Recognized at Advocate Condell Ceremony
At their annual Volunteer Awards & Recognition Celebration during National Volunteer Appreciation Week in late April, Advocate Condell officials celebrated their team of 477 volunteers who dedicated a total of 50,448 hours in 2012.
“We are grateful to be supported by such a devoted group of outstanding volunteers,” said Dominica Tallarico, President of Advocate Condell Medical Center. “Their contributions to the hospital assist our patients and the community in so many ways. We're truly thankful for their efforts.”
The annual celebration recognized 100 volunteers for their continuous dedication and service, as well as Mundelein resident Chris Hinrichsen for having the highest number of service hours. Since starting as a volunteer in 1985, Mr. Hinrichsen has given over 18,000 hours of service. He helps in the Medical Staff Office three times a week and at the hospital's Annual Golf Outing in June.
“I received speech therapy at Advocate Condell and decided to start volunteering at the hospital to get out of the house more,” comments Mr. Hinrichsen. “I enjoy interacting with the physicians and feeling productive.”
On average, Advocate Condell Volunteers contribute 4,200 hours a month and benefit nearly 50 areas of the hospital. They serve in a variety of capacities, including Guest Services, Surgical Services, Central Supply, Gift Shop and Baby Cap knitters.
“We are very fortunate for the special gifts of time and talent our dedicated volunteers provide,” said Janet Miesbauer, Manager of Volunteers, Auxiliary and Retail Services at Advocate Condell Medical Center.
