Naperville Central clinches share of DVC title
Naperville Central 3, West Chicago 2:
The Redhawks (20-7, 15-4) clinched a share of the DuPage Valley Conference title when Jeff Schank's RBI single in the top of the seventh inning drove in the game-winning run. Jimmy Nashert pitched a 3-hitter. Schank also homered while Nicky Lopez went 3-for-3. Jon Michiels doubled and drove in the lone run for West Chicago (4-22, 1-18).
Benet 3, Marian Catholic 1:
The Redwings (19-7, 10-4) moved a step closer toward the East Suburban Catholic title after lone runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie. Joe Boyle, who went 2-for-3, Kevin Jendra and Tim Veselik drove in runs in support of winning pitcher Tony Predey. Robert Haemmerle notched the save.
Neuqua Valley 7, Bartlett 1:
The Wildcats (23-8, 20-5) won their ninth straight game while closing out their Upstate Eight Conference schedule. Three runs in the fifth inning and another 3 runs in the sixth helped Neuqua Valley pull ahead. Mike Riesner went 3-for-4 while Jeff Evak and Alex Wolanski drove in 2 runs apiece. Jonathan Vlk was the complete-game winning pitcher.
Glenbard North 13, Naperville North 3:
The Panthers (16-10, 13-6) ended the DuPage Valley Conference game in six innings after eight players had hits and seven players drove in runs. Nolan Jasinski, Jeff LaPage, Adam Villanueva and Matt Stencel each had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Kyle Crites was the winning pitcher. Carson Brown and Mark Khoury went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Naperville North (15-10, 11-8).
Timothy Christian 14, Northridge Prep 0:
The Trojans (7-14) advanced to the Class 2A IC Catholic Prep regional semifinals after scoring 5 runs in the first inning and 9 runs in the third. Emerson Bandemer allowed 1 hit over 5 innings. Brandon Scott and Justin VanderNaald homered and drove in 3 runs apiece.
Willowbrook 7, Leyden 3:
The Warriors (19-9, 11-7) swept in the West Suburban Gold after a 6-run fourth inning broke a scoreless tie. Brian Johnson went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Tyler Vavrek had 2 hits and Jeremy Kucik drove in 2 runs.
Addison Trail 5, Morton 0:
A 3-run top of the second inning gave complete-game winning pitcher Anthony Infantino and the Blazers (10-21, 7-11) all the offense they needed while taking two of three in the West Suburban Gold series. Jordan Garcia went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI.
Downers South 5, Glenbard West 2:
Danny Mayer and Anthony Vattimo homered for the Mustangs (26-5, 15-3) in their West Suburban crossover victory. Zach Taylor went the distance on the mound. Will Simoneit drove in a run for Glenbard West (12-17).
West Aurora 5, Glenbard East 1:
The Rams (11-20, 7-12) managed 4 hits in the opening game of their DuPage Valley Conference series with West Aurora. Joe Kotch drove in Glenbard East's lone run in the fourth inning.
St. Joseph 10, Wheaton Academy 5:
Kyle Uitermarkt drove in 3 runs while Sam Perna and Dylan Hughes each had 2 hits for the Warriors (5-19) in their nonconference loss.
Hinsdale Central 3, Downers North 2:
The Red Devils (15-11, 10-8) held off a seventh-inning rally to top Downers North (18-9, 12-6) in the West Suburban Silver. Matt Muellner went 2-for-3 with a homer and 2 RBI. Chris Bokich pitched 6 innings to earn the win. Joe Provenzano homered and had 2 RBI for the Trojans.
