West Chicago drove the length of the field for a touchdown early in Saturday’s Upstate Eight River game, but Streamwood’s defense never let it happen again in a 28-8 victory at Millennium Field. Hungry to earn a fourth win and stay in the playoff race, West Chicago mounted an impressive opening drive. The Wildcats marched 70-yards in 16 plays and ate 7:32 off the clock.

But when she found out she was all smiles, as was the entire Bulldogs’ contingent. With her grandma, aunt, cousin and a good neighbor friend in the stands cheering her on, the Maryland-bound libero added an exclamation point to the straight sets win, firing 3 aces in a 4-point run to open up an 8-point spread on the Vikings’ way to a 25-19, 25-14 victory.

  • Another reason for Batavia to celebrate Oct 3, 2014 11:19 PM

If Bartlett enters Friday’s football game in Streamwood as Glenbard East coach John Walters believes it will — looking to “slug it out” — it’s got a taker. Glenbard East’s 28-27 loss in overtime against Waubonsie Valley was not a moral victory. It left a bitter taste. “I think last week not getting the ballgame really fueled their fire,” Walters said. “We’ve got a hungry, not-content football team.”
