In honor of National Physical Therapy Month, ATI Physical Therapy is giving back to the community. Throughout the month of October, ATI is supporting Hearts in Motion, a non-profit organization founded and operated by a physical therapist to provide care and medical treatment for children, families and communities in the U.S. and Central and South America. Patients and the public are encouraged to drop off items at ATI's over 70 locations in the Chicagoland area.

Suggested donation items include:

Diapers (sizes 2 and 3)

New children's clothes

Dry baby formula

New children's educational toys

Spanish children's books or DVDs

First Aid Kits (or items for kits)

New or gently used wheelchairs and walkers

Exercise equipment in good condition (small hand weights, stretch bands)

Sports equipment (soccer balls, tennis rackets, baseballs, etc.)

ATI's global initiative ATI MissionWorks will join Hearts in Motion on its October mission trip to Guatemala. ATI Physical Therapist Efosa Guobadia will help care for patients, as well as share his knowledge, techniques and experience with the medical staff in Guatemala to ensure a lasting impact.

In addition to the Hearts in Motion campaign, ATI is celebrating National Physical Therapy Month with an educational initiative. The American Physical Therapy Association founded National Physical Therapy Month to educate the public about how physical therapy can help improve their quality of life by restoring and improving their ability to move.

"Each October, ATI celebrates National Physical Therapy Month not only in our clinics, but throughout the company," says Jason Hafner, Senior Vice President of Operations. "It's a great opportunity to bring awareness to the profession we love, and educate our communities on the important role physical therapy can have in their lives. Each day, our physical therapists and physical therapist assistants improve the lives of our patients by reducing pain, improving movement and function, preventing further injury, and many times helping avoid surgery or medication."

Throughout this month, ATI plans to provide education to patients and the public about how physical therapy can help improve their lives through many different avenues, including daily "National Physical Therapy Month Fun Facts" on their Facebook page.

ATI's focus on exceptional patient outcomes, as well as their commitment to an upbeat, motivational environment for patients, has led to extensive growth, allowing them to celebrate National Physical Therapy Month in over 190 clinics across seven states this year. The company offers a variety of innovative therapies, backed by their in-house research department, to benefit patients. Specialty services include the F.I.R.S.T. work conditioning program, functional capacity assessments, sports medicine, aquatic therapy, hand therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, and women's health.
