Burlington’s O’Reilly sets school digs mark

Burlington Central junior libero Allie O'Reilly set the school record for digs in a season Saturday as the Rockets won the Bronze Division championship at the Lincoln-Way East tournament.

O'Reilly had 74 digs in the tournament to give her 494 on the season, breaking the school record of 449 set by Sam Bohne.

After losing to Homewood-Flossmoor and Lincoln-Way East on Friday, the Rockets bounced back to beat Thornton Fractional North, Lincoln-Way West and Oak Lawn Saturday to win their division.

Senior Lexie Bouza was named to the all-tournament team after registering 36 kills, 40 digs, 6 aces and 8 blocks in the tournament.

Also contributing for the Rockets (23-10) were Laura Wiltsie (21 kills, 6 aces, 31 digs), Jess Emrich (84 assists, 5 kills, 20 digs), Laura Peltonen (7 kills, 9 blocks) and Tori Settani (4 kills, 12 blocks). Karrington Bell added 24 digs and Makenna Jensen had 8 kills and 9 blocks for BC.

At Glenbard East: Huntley finished 2-3 at the Glenbard East Autumnfest, beating Wheaton Warrenville South and Lisle but losing to Glenbard West, Lemont and Mt. Pulaski. Rachel Kisten had 23 kills and 5 digs and Emily Westermeyer added 20 kills and 21 digs to lead the Red Raiders (14-18). Hailey Vitacco (14 digs, 27 kills), Eilish Reagan (27 digs), Kelsey DeWulf (80 assists, 22 digs), Erin Lyman (41 digs, 16 kills, 3 aces) and Rachel Shores (37 digs, 2 aces) also contributed for Huntley.

Crystal Lake South was 0-3 for the day and finished eighth in the tournament.

At Bradley-Bourbonnais: Harvest Christian went 3-2 at the Bradley Bourbonnais tournament, beating Bishop McNamara, Lincoln and Aurora Central Catholic while losing to Bradley and Nazareth. Sydney Doby (43 kills, 12 blocks, 33 digs, 7 aces), Jordan Sollers (21 kills, 21 assists, 42 digs, 6 aces) and Katelyn Floyd (54 assists, 5 aces, 2 kills) led the Lions (24-5) for the day.
