Harper trying to bring Twin Bowl trophy home

Identical twin brothers Kenneth and Steven Ender were born rivals. Thanks to their professional titles, two college football teams also can get in on the action.

The two Enders — the presidents of Harper College in Palatine and Grand Rapids Community College in Grand Rapids, Mich., respectively — once again will see their football teams go head to head in the annual Twin Bowl, a gridiron game that guarantees its two opponents will officially meet their match.

“All our lives, my twin brother and I have enjoyed what I'll call healthy competition, but I think we all know that rivalries get a little more serious when they involve football,” Kenneth Ender said. The game, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 in Grand Rapids, will be the third installment of the bowl series.

The winner will walk away with the coveted Twin Bowl trophy — identical football players perched firmly atop a loving cup — and brotherly bragging rights.

Grand Rapids so far has a 2-0 edge in Twin Bowls. This season the Hawks are 2-4 so far while Grand Rapids is undefeated.#8220;We may be the underdog on paper, but our team plays with a lot of heart, and you can't underestimate that,#8221; Kenneth Ender said. #8220;I told my brother this is the year we'll be taking that trophy off his hands.#8221;The twin Enders will be on the field for the coin toss, and will join fans at a pregame lunch.
