Roosevelt seeks future entrepreneurs

Roosevelt University is encouraging high school administrators and teachers throughout the Chicago area to nominate current sophomores and juniors for its “Project Green Teen$” Entrepreneurship Academy this summer.

The weeklong academy will be July 10-15 at Roosevelt's Chicago campus and from July 24-29 at the Schaumburg campus.

The academy is led by faculty and staff of the Walter E. Heller College of Business as well as by industry leaders and successful green-tech business entrepreneurs.

Students accepted into the academy will work in teams to determine the best way for a particular business model to compete, identify capital needs to start up and devise a plan for successful management.

On the final day, the teams will give 15-minute “investor pitches” to a panel of judges in a business plan competition setting.

Members of the team with the highest score will receive college tuition vouchers to pursue a degree at Roosevelt University.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the academy's website at Roosevelt.edu/business/academy and must be submitted by April 29.

There is no fee to nominate students nor is there a limit to the number of students who can be nominated from a single school.

The fee to attend either camp is $500 and includes room, board and activities for the student. Full and partial scholarships are available to cover camp expenses if the student's family is unable to pay.

Sponsors for the 2011 Roosevelt University Entrepreneurship Academy are also being sought.
