Monday's Fox Valley roundup

The Jacobs softball team started the week off on a winning note Monday, downing McHenry 9-4 in a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game at McHenry.

Jenna Teson led the Golden Eagles (12-7, 6-3) with a 4-for-4 day that included a triple. Kara Arceneaux was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Amber Livingston (4-4) was in the circle for Jacobs with 5 innings pitched, allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits. She struck out two and walked two.

The Golden Eagles host Huntley today in a key game to the Valley race.

Huntley 10, Dundee-Crown 0: The Red Raiders (15-6, 7-2) were victorious with the help of Taylor Larson in the circle. Larson pitched 6 innings, allowed only 2 hits, walked two, and struck out 12. Jenna Mychko went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI for Huntley, while Kelsey Hagan was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Arianna Albanese also added 2 hits. Melany Love produced one of the Chargers' only hits. Brittany Schultz had the other hit. Love also suffered the loss, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Cary-Grove 20, Crystal Lake South 3: Cary-Grove (17-6, 8-1) trampled the Gators (8-11, 3-6) with the help of Abbe Wienckowski, who went 4-for-4 with a double, 2 home runs, and 5 RBI. Emma Gaulke was 3-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBI, while Sam Baratta had 2 hits, including a triple and 2 RBI. St. Edward 9, Aurora Christian 0: St. Edward (16-12, 7-5) shut out Aurora Christian Monday in the Suburban Christian Conference with 12 players contributing 14 hits for the game. BreAunna Medinger (RBI) and Kristi Knott (3 RBI) each had 2 hits. Salli Slack (RBI) had a double and Kelsey Richmond hit a triple for the Green Wave. Sarah Field (13-8) pitched 4 innings for the win, striking out four with one walk.

Waubonsie Valley 5, Streamwood 0: Streamwood (5-19, 1-10) was defeated by Waubonsie during Upstate Eight action. Jen Mellenthin and Delaney O'Malley each contributed a hit to the Sabres' offense. Kelsey Johnson pitched all 7 innings, allowing no earned runs on 4 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.
