Enjoy virtual music concerts this month at College of DuPage

The McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage is hosting several concerts in December featuring COD students and faculty, and members of the community.

All concerts will be livestreamed from Belushi Performance Hall in the McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn. Ensuring the safety of the performers, rehearsals and performances follow safety protocols.

"Working in a more distant way has given us all insights into new ways to work, rehearse and perform," said COD Professor of Music Lee R. Kesselman. "Music is universal - whether that is in person or virtual. The students have done amazing work to make these concerts interesting and entertaining. We hope you join us in the comfort and safety of your own home."

The DuPage Community Jazz Ensemble and the College of DuPage Small Group Jazz ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3. Director Matt Shevitz will lead the groups in works by a variety of artists, including Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Snarky Puppy.

Director Philip Bauman will lead the College of DuPage Chamber Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8. Featuring both students and community members, the orchestra will perform music ranging from traditional classics to theater and film music for classical music lovers of all ages.

Director Kesselman will lead the College of DuPage Chamber Singers in a performance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10. The concert will feature vocal chamber music arrangements from Renaissance madrigals to contemporary popular music.

All tickets are $7 per household, streaming links will be sent via email when tickets are purchased.

The box office currently is open remotely noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The music program at College of DuPage offers the first two years of a baccalaureate music degree program, including coursework in theory and ear training, and a sequence of four class piano courses designed for non-pianists. The program offers associate degrees in music and music business and a certificate in audio production, as well as private lessons in voice, piano, guitar, percussion, and all band and orchestra instruments. Performing groups are open to all students regardless of major, and include Concert Choir, Jazz Choir, Chamber Singers, Community Jazz Ensemble, DuPage Chorale, DuPage Community Band, Chamber Orchestra, Small Group Jazz, Percussion Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble.
