Hop on your bike to support Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley!

Hop on your bike to support Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley at the third annual Bike For the Kids from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9. Their goal is to raise $10,000.

Choose your distance, and celebrate at the finish line with refreshments and family-friendly entertainment. Adapted bikes and trailers are welcome. All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Wheels of all kinds are welcome!

Choose your distance: a 2.5-mile family fun ride or 12-, 25-, 50- or 100-mile rides.

All rides start and end at the Jayne Shover Center, 799 S. McLean Blvd. in Elgin.

Check-in and race-day registration opens at 6 a.m. The course opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. The suggested start time for 100-mile ride is no later than 7:30 a.m. It is the cyclist's choice for other distances. This is a supported ride. Sag wagon, roadside help and rest stops are provided on all routes.

There will be food, family activities and entertainment at noon.

The family fun ride will start at 1:30 p.m. at the center and continue on Sports Way around the Elgin Sports Complex.

The 12-mile ride starts at the Elgin center, travels west on Spartan Drive, north on Renner Drive, and west on South Street to Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve west of Elgin.

The 25-mile ride follow the 12-mile route to Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve west of Elgin and then travels on Hunter Trail, Stoneridge, Muirhead Road and Rohrssen Road to Tower Road.

The 50-and 100-mile rides travel through Elgin's west side, Pingree Grove, Hampshire, Burlington, and Campton Hills.

Cost is $50 per cyclist. The family fun ride is $15 per person. There is no charge for Easterseals clients and children, age 12 or younger. All preregistered participants will receive a T-shirt.
