College of DuPage forensics team earns awards at Gorlok Gala Competition

The College of DuPage forensics team recently won first place in the community college sweepstakes at the Gorlok Gala hosted by Webster University in St. Louis.

Competing against nearly 40 college and universities from 17 states, the College of DuPage had multiple finalists at the competition including: Cem Addemir (Naperville) and Liz Fritz (Naperville), quarterfinalists in Parliamentary debate; Jake Cowart (Lombard), second place in Informative Speaking; Djimon Lewis (Bolingbrook), Excellence Award in Poetry Interpretation; Veronica Williams-Hall (Clarendon Hills), third place in Poetry Interpretation.

Lewis and Williams-Hall also received fourth place in Improvisational Pairs.

Also traveling with the team were members Gavin McDonnell (Naperville), Rocio Olvera (Elmhurst), Kelsey Peters (Glen Ellyn), Umme Mandviwala (Naperville), Alexandra Weston (Glen Ellyn) and coaches Lauren Morgan and Kacy Stevens, and alumni coach Carolyn Nivling.
