COD Sonography Program Receives Continuing Reaccreditation

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs recently awarded continuing accreditation for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at College of DuPage.

The College's Sonography and Vascular Sonography certificates have received continued accreditation since their inception in 1999 and 2005, respectively. With the addition of the AAS Sonography Degree in 2009, COD became the first college in Illinois to offer a degree program in Sonography that combined training in abdominal, obstetrical and vascular sonography modalities.

"This designation reflects the high standards that we set for the Sonography program, which provides students with the best educational experience possible," said Karen Solt, Associate Dean of Health and Biological Sciences.

The accreditation standards achieved by the College are established by CAAHEP and are overseen by the Joint Review Committee in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The next comprehensive evaluation of the Sonography programs, including an on-site review, will occur by 2020.
