COD students earn national anthropology awards

College of DuPage students Lauren Cappelletti of Roselle, Ethan McNerney of Warrenville and Lauren Zawis of Wheaton recently earned national recognition in an essay competition that included more than 3,000 students from 200 schools.

Under the tutelage of COD Anthropology Professor Micheal Dietz, the students responded to the query: β€œAre the National Science Foundation's efforts at greater accountability – by having a statement regarding the benefits and outcomes of a funded project after the project's completion – to be applauded or criticized?”

Their students' winning essays were subsequently published on the Center for a Public Anthropology website: www.publicanthropology.org/CAW/11-Spring/CAP-3MD3DuPage.htm.

The Center for a Public Anthropology is a non-profit organization that encourages scholars and their students to address public problems in public ways. For more information, visit www.publicanthropology.org.
