COD horticulture students finish in Top 10 in national competition
Four College of DuPage Horticulture students finished in the top ten at the Professional Landscape Network Career Days on March 27.
A total of nine COD students competed in 28 events at the competition at Joliet Junior College.
Lenin Campos of Hanover Park received second place in Small Engine Repair; George Kotecki of Roselle and Bryan Kasper of Lisle received 6th place in Landscape Maintenance Operations; and Anthony Jones of Villa Park received eighth place in the Skid Steer event.
In addition, Monique Dusek-Sparacino of Bartlett finished 15th in Computer Aided Landscape Design.
Other COD students who participated include Peggy Kotecki, Roselle; Dana Bartunek, Bolingbrook; Jonathan Drover of Westmont; and Christian Garcia of Warrenville.
“I'm very proud of our students' success,” said COD Greenhouse Manager Elizabeth Britt, who noted that this was the first year COD had entered the competition. “This is a very prestigious national event, with approximately 800 students from 60 schools competing.”
