COD Hosts Inaugural Careers in the Helping Professions Event April 12
The Human Services program and the Career Services Center at College of DuPage will host the inaugural Careers in the Helping Professions event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on campus in Glen Ellyn.
Participating community agencies include Aspire Chicago, DuPage County Probation, Lutherbrook Child and Family Services, New Found Center Inc., Seguin A, Adult Children Center, YWCA, and People's Resource Center. Representatives from COD's Counseling and Advising Services, Library, and Career Services also will be available.
Andrea Polites, Human Services Instructor, said the free career event will allow students to speak with representatives from partner agencies about career, internship, volunteer and employment opportunities.
"Instead of focusing solely on careers, we also wanted students to meet with agency representatives one-on-one and talk about possible internships," Polites said. "This event is open to anyone - college students, high school students as well as community members."
College of DuPage is an accredited community college that serves more than 29,000 students each term. The College, which grants nine associate degrees and more than 170 certificates in 100 areas of study, is the second largest provider of public undergraduate education in Illinois.
