COD Provides Free Adult English as a Second Language and Citizenship Classes
Designed to help ease the challenges of non-native English speakers who wish to improve their English language skills or gain U.S. Citizenship, College of DuPage offers free Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship programs.
Featured at 30 locations throughout DuPage County, the College's Adult ESL program is free and open to residents and citizens age 17 or older. Through this program, students improve their English language skills in the areas of conversation, listening, reading, speaking and writing for the purpose of community participation, daily life management, employment or to further educational opportunities. This program offers seven course levels, from beginning through high intermediate.
Dual enrollment in Adult ESL and English ABE/GED classes is not permitted.
The College's free Citizenship program is designed to help eligible adults prepare for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) citizenship interview and test. Participants study and review questions included on the test, learn about the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship, develop test-taking strategies and learn techniques to manage the interview.
