COD Community Concert Band Performs March 14 at the MAC
The College of DuPage Community Concert Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 14, in the Belushi Performance Hall at the McAninch Arts Center on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
Band membership is open to high school graduates with windwood, brass or percussion experience or to anyone who is otherwise qualified musically. Auditions are required for chair placement, but no one is refused membership.
The March 14 program features the following works:

• "Magnum Mysterium" by Morton Lauridsen
• "El Salon Mexico" by Aaron Copland
• "The Adventures of Mutt" by John Williams from "Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"
• "Suite from Mass" by Leonard Bernstein
• "El Camino Real A Latin Fantasy" by Alfred Reed
• "Hands Across the Sea" by John Philip Sousa

Founded in 1969, the COD Community Concert Band started as a daytime concert band for students and a nighttime band for the community. The band consolidated into one community group in 1982 and performs under the direction of Terry Redford. Redford studied music at DePaul University, finishing his Bachelor of Arts in Music degree at Elmhurst College. He holds a master's in Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music and founded the Driscoll Catholic High School and Grade School band programs before moving into public education. Redford has performed as a professional trombonist with the CYO Bands, the VanderCook College Band, DePaul University, Elmhurst College Band, the Elmhurst Symphony, the DuPage Symphony, the Brass Tracks Jazz Orchestra and the West Suburban Symphony. He recently retired as Director of Bands at Lemont Township High School.
