COD to Host Free Senior Citizen Disaster Preparedness Workshop March 24
Continuing Education at College of DuPage will host a series of four free seminars designed to inform seniors on a variety of issues and challenges pertinent to seniors. The first session in the series will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, in the Homeland Security Education Center, Room 1022, on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
These workshops are free and open to the public.
The first of four in the series, this workshop will cover disaster preparedness and feature DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management preparedness expert Sabit Abbasi. Attendees will learn about emergency notification systems, evacuation support systems, special needs shelters, emergency lists of needs and effective responses to natural and man-made disasters.
Funded through a grant provided by Motorola Solutions, this series is designed to inform seniors on a variety of issues and challenges. Additional sessions in this series will cover community watch (Thursday, May 19), fighting back against scammers (Thursday, Aug. 25) and advocates for seniors (Thursday, Oct. 20).
