DuPage County relaunches Small Business Grant Program
The DuPage County Board voted June 22 to allocate $15 million in federal American Recovery Plan Act funds to relaunch Reinvest DuPage, a business grant relief program developed in partnership with Choose DuPage.
The portal will open at 9 a.m. Monday, June 28, at the Choose DuPage website, www.choosedupage.com.
Businesses may also attend a webinar on the application process, which will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 24. A Spanish translation of the webinar will follow. To register for the webinar, please visit www.choosedupage.com.
"When we launched this program at the beginning of the pandemic, we saw a large volume of applications from business owners desperate for help. While the recovery has begun, many businesses are still hurting. Reopening this grant program was a priority as we seek to fulfill the purpose of this federal program locally and spur economic activity," said County Board Chairman Dan Cronin.
Grants will cover operational expenses for small businesses, independent contractors, nonprofits, and restaurants. Small businesses with annual revenue of $20 million or less can apply for up to $50,000 in relief funds. Independent contractors with less than $250,000 in annual revenue may apply for $15,000 in relief.
In 2020, the DuPage County Board provided more than $20 million to the Reinvest DuPage program to help 1,621 struggling small businesses, restaurants, bars, and independent contractors. Those funds came from the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed by Congress in 2020.
In May, DuPage County received $89 million after Congress passed the American Recovery Plan Act earlier this year.
