Get spooky thrills at 'Halloween Horror Film Fest' Oct. 26 at The Catlow

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Catlow Theatre, 116 W. Main St. in Barrington, is hosting a "Halloween Horror Film Fest" starting at noon and going until after midnight.

The special guest will be Chicago film director, screenwriter and producer Gary Sherman, director of "Dead & Buried," "Poltergeist III," "Death Line," "Vice Squad," and "Wanted: Dead or Alive." At 6:15 p.m., join the director in the screening of his 1981 film "Dead & Buried," starring Melody Anderson, Jack Albertson, and James Farentino.

The doors will open at 11 a.m. with the movies starting at noon. Advance tickets are $18 or $24 cash at the door. You can pay once, and come and go as you like.

The series will begin at noon with the classic supernatural film starring Vincent Price, the 1959 "House on Haunted Hill," directed by William Castle.

It will continue at 1:30 p.m. with a Sid Haig tribute with the screening of one of his earliest film roles, the 1968 black comedy cult classic "Spider Baby." Haig is well known for his role as the psychotic clown named Captain Spaulding in the 2003 Rob Zombie film "House of 1000 Corpses" and its 2005 sequel "The Devil's Rejects."

The 1968 George Romero's cult classic "Night of the Living Dead" will be shown at 3:30 p.m.

The Barrington premiere of "Gray Matter" will be shown at 5:30 p.m.

Sam Raimi's 1987 comedy horror film "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn" will be screened at 8:30 p.m.

The 1974 film "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," directed by Tobe Hopper, will be shown at 10:15 p.m. This showing is sponsored by Illuminated Brew Works.

The horror series will wrap up a midnight showing of the 1985 Italian horror film "Demons" directed by Lamberto Bava.

The evening also will feature vendors, free posters, a charity auction, and more.
