WDCB Kicks Off Encore Film Series With 'Round Midnight' April 1

WDCB will kick off its Encore Film Series with a screening of "Round Midnight" at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1, in the Jack H. Turner Conference Center, Student Resource Center, Room 2000, at College of DuPage.

The new quarterly series will focus on jazz and blues films. WDCB is celebrating the 30th anniversary of "Round Midnight," a 1986 American-French musical drama about the 1950s Paris jazz scene directed by Bertrand Tavernier and starring Dexter Gordon, François Cluzet and Herbie Hancock. Gordon was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor and won a Grammy for the film's soundtrack, "The Other Side of Round Midnight," while Hancock won an Academy Award for Best Original Score. The jazz soundtrack was released in two parts: "Round Midnight" and "The Other Side of Round Midnight."

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance online through the WDCB Store, by phone with a credit card at (630) 942-4200 during regular business hours, or at the door with cash or credit card.

The next presentation, "Keep on Keepin' On" with Clark Terry and Justin Kauflin, will take place on May 20.

WDCB is "Chicago's Home for Jazz" with more than 125 hours of jazz every week, and can be heard locally throughout Chicagoland on 90.9FM, via streaming worldwide on www.WDCB.org (and the Tune-In app) as well as in the city of Chicago through cable television on CAN TV42.
