Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale Looking Forward To Their 1st Annual Bingo Serenade Event
The Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale (GEWC) will be holding their 1st Annual Bingo Serenade Event on April 8, 2016. Doors open at 6 p.m., bingo from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn, IL. The Chorale will be visiting Glen Ellyn's Sister City, Le Bouscat, France, this June during their 2016 performance tour, traveling from Barcelona, Spain to Le Bouscat, France. The GEWC will participate in several concerts throughout their tour, but music director Greg Wheatley said that, "we are especially looking forward to a special joint concert with a local choir during our visit in Le Bouscat where the Sister Cities will share in their mutual love for singing."
The Sister City partnership between Glen Ellyn and Le Bouscat was formed in order to foster mutual opportunities for cultural, educational, and economic exchanges that highlight the diversity and rich culture between the two international partners. Le Bouscat is located in the Bordeaux region of France and boasts many similarities to Glen Ellyn such as population, strong local economy, and a vibrant and engaged citizenry.
Mark your calendars now for the Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale's spring concert "Of Night and Light" on May 6 and 7, 2016 which will be premiering its newly commissioned work,"The Cloths of Heaven" by renowned composer René Clausen. The Friday concert begins at 7:30 p.m., and the Saturday concert begins at 3:00 p.m. Both concerts are at College Church, 335 E. Seminary, Wheaton, IL. You'll also be getting a preview of some of the music selections they will be performing in Europe on their tour!
