COD Hosts 24th Annual Asia Symposium: Japan Miyabi (Elegance) March 8 and 9

College of DuPage will host the 24th annual Asia Symposium: Japan Miyabi (Elegance) on Tuesday, March 8, and Wednesday, March 9, on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., in Glen Ellyn.

All events are free and open to the public.

Hosted by the Asia Committee and sponsored by the College's Global Education office, the event will feature presentations and performances related to Japanese art, culture and history.

The two-day symposium will feature presentations covering a broad range of topics related to Japan, including modern day population challenges in Japan, Buddhism, Japanese tattooing practices, modern Japanese history and J-Pop, a martial arts demonstration and film screenings. The symposium will culminate Wednesday evening with Taiko Drummers, Japanese Dancers and a student fashion show.

The Asia Committee at College of DuPage was established with the goal of fostering a richer understanding and appreciation of the cultures of Asia through interdisciplinary events that incorporate diverse fields such as anthropology, art, economics, history, literature, philosophy, political science and psychology.
