College of DuPage to Host 'Women in Ancient Hindu Texts' Nov. 11
The Asia Studies Committee and the Philosophy Club at College of DuPage will host "Women in Ancient Hindu Texts" from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Health and Science Center, Room 1234, on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., in Glen Ellyn.
This event is free and open to the public.
Featuring Dr. Wendy Doniger, Mircea Eliade Distinguished Service Professor of the History of Religions at the University of Chicago, this discussion will provide a deeper understanding of Hinduism through exploring the role of women in this religion. Considered to be one of the world's most influential scholars of Hinduism, Doniger has published 16 books including "The Origins of Evil in Hindu Mythology," "Splitting the Difference: Gender and Myth in Ancient Greece and India," "Hinduism: An Alternative History" and "On Hinduism."
