COD Cook-Off to Feature Employee, Student and Sodexo Teams

The College of DuPage Cook-Off will test the culinary talents of the COD community at noon on Thursday, March 21, in the main cafeteria dining area located on the first floor of the Student Resource Center.

Three teams Рstaff/faculty, students and Sodexo employees Рwill each receive five items to prepare a tantalizing entr̩e and either an appetizer, soup, salad, dessert or side dish. The surprise is that team members won't know what the items are until the competition begins.

The delectable results will be judged by a VIP panel that includes COD President Dr. Robert L. Breuder; Chris Thielman, Culinary and Hospitality Management program coordinator; Ellen Roberts, director of Business Affairs; a COD student; and a Sodexo district manager. Scott Wager, WDCB public radio station manager, will be the event's announcer.

“What better way than to use food to bring people together for an enjoyable gathering,” Dr. Breuder said. “I'm looking forward to sampling the creative results, and hopefully my waistline won't mind too much.”

Lynn Konicek, General Manager of Sodexo at College of DuPage, said teams have one hour to create their dishes which then will be judged immediately.

“We hope a big crowd turns out for what should be some mouth-watering fun,” she said.
