Parsons Dance at the MAC April 21

The Parsons Dance company performs a collection of its acclaimed works at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21, on the Mainstage of the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Led by Artistic Director/Choreographer David Parsons, the troupe maintains a repertory of more than 60 dances and is an internationally renowned contemporary company. The group creates and performs American dance works and has toured more than 250 cities, 35 countries and six continents since 1985.

The April 21 program includes “Kind of Blue,” a tribute to the 75th anniversary of Miles Davis' birth; “Nascimento,” originally commissioned by the Festival in the Sun at the University of Arizona, Tucson; and “Caught,” choreographed in 1982 by David Parsons.

Pegged by The New York Times as “one of the great movers of modern dance,” David Parsons is recipient of the Dance Masters of America's 2011 Annual Award. He has created commissioned pieces for The American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and the Het Muziektheater in Amsterdam.

Tickets to Parsons Dance are $46 for adults, $44 for seniors and $36 for College of DuPage students and youth.
