Gallery Theater holds auditions Oct. 23-24
Gallery Theater in West Chicago has set Oct. 23-24 as audition dates for their December production of "A Gift Worthy of Giving." The auditions will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 and 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at the Fox Community Center, 306 Main St., West Chicago.
"A Gift Worthy of Giving" is based on the O. Henry short story, "The Gift of the Magi", and tells the story of a young couple in the early 1900s who are recently married and find themselves almost penniless as they prepare to celebrate their first Christmas together. Being deeply in love and wanting to find the most perfect gift for each other, they each make a decision that leaves the audience with a gentle moral lesson about the true meaning of giving a gift.
The performances are scheduled for Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11, 2011 at Gallery 200/STUDIO, 203 Turner Court, West Chicago.
The play calls for five actors ages 18 and older. The characters include an earnest young couple, a stern business owner, a sweet neighbor and an astute lady hat shop owner. The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. For additional information, those interested may contact gallerytheater@gmail.com or call (630) 639-0594.
