Streamwood, now 10-0, stops Conant

And the beat goes on.

Playing for the third time in three days, the Streamwood girls basketball team opened the Mundelein tournament Saturday with a 56-44 win over Conant, the Sabres' 10th win of the season without a loss.

"We played a tough game," said Streamwood coach George Rosner, whose team is now 4 wins shy of tying the program's best-ever 14-0 start of 1987-88.

"Both teams had to come back this morning after playing last night and I thought we played well."

Michelle Tomczak paced the Sabres with a monster game as she recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 7 blocks.

The Sabres hit 9-of-12 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Jessica Cerda and Emma Schmidt recorded 9 and 8 points, respectively for Streamwood.

There's no rest for the Sabres, either, as they host 9-0 Rolling Meadows in nonconference action on Monday. They then host 6-3 Addison Trail on Thursday before returning to Mundelein at 3:30 p.m. next Saturday to take on undefeated Libertyville in a quarterfinal matchup.
