Rest of the Best of DuPage County

Aurora Central Catholic (2-5) at St. Francis (4-3)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today, College of DuPage

The quick hit: There shouldn't be a need for a Spartans comeback in this Suburban Christian Conference crossover. At least not if St. Francis can eliminate mental mistakes and running back Bob Miller follows his stellar pulling guards Nick Pfeiffer and Jack Porter.

Downers Grove North (1-6, 0-4) at Glenbard West (7-0, 4-0)

Game time: 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit: Neither team will have their starting quarterback after the Trojans' Riley McGinnis went out with injury last week. Daver Glawe thrived in his first start behind center last week for the Hilltoppers, who can seal a share of their third straight Silver title.

East Aurora (0-7, 0-4) at Waubonsie Valley (5-2, 3-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: Three keys for Waubonsie: forget last week's 43-6 loss to rival Neuqua Valley; stay in line for a share of the Upstate Eight Valley Division title; clinch automatic playoff berth. After four weeks concussed quarterback Tommy Kolzow is cleared to play.

Elmwood Park (2-5, 1-3) at Fenton (4-3, 3-1)

Game time: 7 p.m. today.

The quick hit: Fenton will be playing without two starters Eron McCoy and Kyle Moriarty after they were ejected in last week's 39-13 victory over Ridgewood. The Bison beat Elmwood Park 42-0 behind a strong running game in the opening round of MSC play.

Glenbard South (2-5) at Woodstock (1-6)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: Last week's 35-0 middle-quarter blitz by Notre Dame ended Glenbard South's hopes for a fourth straight playoff appearance. The young Raiders still have plenty to play for, though, starting with a Woodstock team that has lost five straight games.

Hinsdale South (2-5, 1-3) at Willowbrook (1-6, 1-4)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: With several sophomores starting and both freshman teams playing for WSC Gold titles, Willowbrook looks toward the future. Senior running back-cornerback Jabril Jones, however, continues to be a leader. He played all but one down last week.

Immaculate Conception (5-2) at Aurora Christian (4-3)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: A similar opponent to Wheaton Academy for the Knights in this SCC crossover, another passing offense out of the spread. IC ran for 422 yards last week, with Conor Hendricks gaining 229 of them as well as breaking up deep pass patterns.

Lisle (4-3) at Manteno (3-4)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: Offensive leadership by Anthony Ventrella, Mitch McCarthy and Nick Leonard has helped Lisle win three straight. It'll also give Manteno much to stop. Yet the Lions will be outweighed on the line, so outquicking Manteno to the point of attack is key.

Metea Valley (1-6, 1-4) at Lake Park (1-6, 1-3)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: Metea's Jarrett House completed 20 of 31 passes for 203 yards last week, which may force Lake Park's defense into coverage and open up running lanes. The Lancers hope to deliver retiring coach Andy Livingston a victory in his last home game.

West Chicago (1-6, 0-5) at Naperville Central (3-4, 2-3)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: Despite its DVC struggles, especially in last week's loss to WW South, West Chicago's option offense has performed well in the league. Naperville Central's playoffs start now after last week's heartbreaking loss, the Redhawks' third in four games.

West Aurora (3-4, 1-4) at Glenbard East (3-4, 1-4)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: Glenbard East's offense has seen some flux with quarterback Steve Kinney's injury that put sophomore Joe Kotch into action. The goal of either quarterback is to get the ball to receiver Kevin Priebe, who's averaging 21 yards on his 22 catches.

Wheaton Academy (5-2) at Montini (5-2)

Game time: 7 p.m. today

The quick hit: A battle of spread offenses and quarterbacks, Tommy Decker for Wheaton Academy, Matt Westerkamp for Montini. Montini's defense, however, is physical, fast, and can pressure the quarterback starting up front with tackle Ross Ferraro.

York (6-1, 4-1) at Hinsdale Central (4-3, 2-2)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: York's immediate plan is to get leading rusher Ryan Kent more than the 20 touches he had in last week's loss to Glenbard West. Hinsdale Central quarterback Alex Hodakowski accounted for 124 rushing and 199 passing yards last week.
