'The Bleeding Edge' film exploring medical device industry to be shown July 17 at COD
The Human Services department at College of DuPage will present a free screening of the 2018 documentary film "The Bleeding Edge" at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, in the Berg Instructional Center, Room 2541, on the college's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
This screening is free and open to the public.
Created by Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering, "The Bleeding Edge" documents the unnecessary pain and suffering caused to patients by devices and procedures that received little or no testing.
Examining the $400 billion medical device industry, the film delves into the lax regulations, corporate cover-ups and profit-driven motives that put patients at risk. To learn more about the film, visit bleedingedgedoc.com.
The Human Service program at College of DuPage offers degrees and certificates in a broad range of disciplines, including addictions, corrections and veterans counseling, developmental disability, domestic/family violence, gerontology, psychiatric rehabilitation and residential childcare.
The college has also partnered with National Louis University to offer a streamlined path to earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services through the innovative 3+1 B.A. in Human Services program.
