Lake County Area Pageant to be held on Aug. 1

The Lake County Area Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan. This year 13 young women from all over Lake county will compete for a chance to represent their hometowns as the Lake County Area Queens. The 2016 queens, Little Miss Benton Township Kaylynn Brewton, Junior Miss Chain O' Lakes Alyssa Gallarneau and Miss Lake Forest Kathia Hernandez have spent a year serving their communities and are excited to pass their crowns on to the 2017 winners.

The Lake County Area Pageant is an "open call" pageant for young women living in Lake County communities that do not have a pageant that feeds into the Lake County Illinois State Pageant System. Contestants compete in a private interview portion, a daywear and speech competition and evening wear competition, and Miss level contestants also participate in a lifestyle and fitness competition on stage.

The public is invited to attend the 2017 Lake County Area Pageant and cheer on the 2017 contestants; admission is $5 at the door.
