Feb. 11: Export compliance workshop at CLC Southlake Campus

What do you do when the FBI shows up at your company's door accusing you of non-compliance? You can learn how to comply with export regulations at a Feb. 11 workshop sponsored by the Illinois Small Business Development and International Trade Center at the College of Lake County. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at CLC's Southlake Campus, 1120 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills, and costs just $25.

The guest speaker will be Christos Linardakis, senior counsel for Braumiller Law Group. Linardakis is an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School LLM Program, corporate international trade compliance. He has served in global trade positions for a Fortune 25 computer technology company as well as a Fortune 500 telecommunications company.

Using a vivid description of his real-world case involvement dealing with the FBI on the ARC Electronics/Fishenko Russian Spy Case, re-export to Iran and counterfeit goods sold to the military, Linardakis' workshop will cover what every business should know to avoid compliance violation. He will also review what to do if and when the FBI shows up at your door.

Linardakis will also present three international trade webinars this spring. These include Free Trade Agreements on March 10, Trade Compliance Program on March 24 and Food Safety Modernization Act on April 14. The webinars are held from 10-11 a.m. and cost $20 each.
