Orchestra Announces New Season

Conductor Victor Muenzer leads a lively concert season with the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra performing at the Pickwick Theatre, plus special fundraisers and events offering something for everyone.

Kicking off its 22nd year with a Gershwin Tea, pianist Kent Wehman plays the master's greatest hits on September 26th at Café la Cave, joined by jazz singer Sarah Young. Tickets are $50 per person and include a full English-style tea service with scones and sweets baked by Dolcetti Patisserie of Park Ridge, finger sandwiches and fine teas. Back by popular demand on October 28th is the Orchestra's 3rd annual Halloween Concert for All Ages, including an afterglow recital on the Pickwick organ. Trick-or-treat activities at Hodges Park, the Library, and Pickwick Building launch at 5-6:30 pm, with costume parade at 6:40 pm leading from the park to the Pickwick for the 7:00 pm concert. Music includes Saint-Saen's Danse Macabre and highlights from Batman: the Dark Knight. District 64 middle school students play with the orchestra on Batman, and Linden Christ sings "Memory" from Cats. Family activities are hosted by the Park Ridge Park District, Park Ridge Public Library, and Kalo Foundation. Holidays are more special with the Irving Sisters! Experience a celebration of classics and pops by the Orchestra, joined by the 40's-style trio singing White Christmas, Sleigh Ride, and more. Rachel Barton Pine plays Beethoven! The much-anticipated return of Ms. Pine to the PRCO stage promises to be memorable in every way. Playing the Beethoven Violin Concerto, this world-famous star and Chicago native's performance will be a highlight of the season. Russian Night at the Orchestra features music of Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. Joined by students of Maine South's band and orchestra on the 1812 Overture, the Orchestra also plays Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy, and Prokofiev's 3rd Piano Concerto with keyboard artist Leah Dominy as soloist.
