COD Receives $14,600 Motorola Solutions Foundation Grant

The Motorola Solutions Foundation has awarded a $14,600 grant to the College of DuPage Foundation in support of the formation and launch of the Citizens Public Safety Academy (CPSA), which will begin in January of 2015.

Offered through the College's Continuing Education program and the nationally-renowned Homeland Security Training Institute, the CPSA at College of DuPage will provide public safety training to community members in three course offerings, including an 8-week certificate program, quarterly senior citizen seminars and an Advanced Citizens Emergency Response program which is an 8-week supplement to an existing Community Emergency Response Team training program offered through local townships.

Through this grant, the CPSA is prepared to train approximately 800 participants in 2015 through three components: the Citizens Emergency Response Academy (100 participants), the Senior Citizens Crime Prevention Series (600 participants) and the Citizens Public Safety Academy (100 participants).
