When to trick-or-treat in the Northwest suburbs

In most Northwest suburbs kids are being asked to collect their Halloween loot within specific hours - to wear costumes easily seen by drivers and to visit only homes where the front lights are on.

All trick-or-treat hours listed here are for Friday, Oct. 31.

Arlington Heights: 3-7 p.m. Families also can trick-or-treat in downtown businesses from 3-6 p.m.

Barrington: 3-7 p.m.

Barrington Hills: No set hours

Bartlett: 3-7 p.m.

Buffalo Grove: 2-7 p.m.

Deer Park: 3-8 p.m.

Des Plaines: No set hours, but they recommend trick-or-treaters wrap it up by 8 p.m.

Elk Grove Village: 1-8 p.m.

Hanover Park: 3-7 p.m.

Hoffman Estates: 3-7 p.m.

Inverness: 3-7 p.m.

Lake Barrington: 3-8 p.m.

Mount Prospect: 3-8 p.m.

North Barrington: 3-7 p.m.

Palatine: 3-7 p.m.

Prospect Heights: 3-7 p.m.

Rolling Meadows: 3-8 p.m.

Rosemont: 3-7 p.m.

Schaumburg: 3-7 p.m.

South Barrington: 3-7 p.m.

Streamwood: 3-7 p.m.

Tower Lakes: 4-8 p.m.

Wheeling: 3-7 p.m.
