CLC Foundation hires director of development

The College of Lake County Foundation is pleased to welcome Jamie Samsel of Gurnee as its new director, development. Samsel joins the Foundation with over 12 years of experience as a development professional for educational, grassroots and national organizations including Indiana University and the Sierra Club. In her four years with the Sierra Club, she grew the fundraising program for the Chicagoland area from $230,000 per year to over $1.8 million.

"We are excited to welcome Jamie to the Foundation," said Foundation Executive Director Karen L. Schmidt. "Jamie's background in start-up fundraising program development and expertise in individual and major gifts is exactly what we need to increase the Foundation's fundraising efforts. She brings a wealth of education and experience, and we are fortunate to have her join our team."

As director, development, Samsel will be instrumental in executing the Foundation Board's new strategic direction to grow funds available for scholarships and grants by building philanthropic relationships with new and existing donors. Samsel is a Lake County native, having attended both Deerfield and Stevenson High Schools, as well as the College of Lake County. She holds an M.S. in recreation and parks administration from Indiana University and a B.S. in recreation, parks and tourism administration from Western Illinois University.

The College of Lake County Foundation raises money to fund scholarships and grants that provide CLC students an opportunity for a better future.
