Sew Generously, a Bernina dealer and fabric store in St. Charles IL, is sponsoring an all-night Sew-A-Thon on behalf of Mutual Ground Women and Children's Domestic Violence Shelter in Aurora.
The Sew Generously Sew-A-Thon begins 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 and continues until 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.
Attendees are asked to assemble quilts for Mutual Ground, and are invited to stay for any length of time. Customers who sew all 12 hours will be eligible to win a grand prize of a new Bernette Chicago sewing and embroidery machine. The winner must be present at 7 a.m. and still sewing up until the end.
"Customers can choose when and how to attend," says owner Karin Furio, "but prizes get better and better as the night goes on."
Other festivities during the Sew Generously Sew-A-Thon include: door prizes every hour; snacks and caffeine all night and 7 a.m. breakfast from Panera
"We believe in fostering community and giving back," says Furio, "and we wanted to continue to support this wonderful and very appreciative local organization."
This is Sew Generously's second Sew-A-Thon on behalf of Mutual Ground.
