Jacobs opens season with shutout win

Four different players found the back of the net Monday as the Jacobs boys soccer team opened the season with a 4-0 Fox Valley Conference crossover win over Crystal Lake Central.

Bradley Cleveland, Anthony Moscatello, Garrett Fales and Mario Rako each had goals for the Golden Eagles. Nick Matysyk had 1 save in goal for Jacobs.

Rockford Jefferson 4, CL South 3: Roberto Albuquerque scored twice and Charlie Oliver once but the Gators fell in their season opener. Oliver and Albuquerque each had an assist as well and Steven Follmer (5 saves) and Brett Wielgos (1) shared time in goal for CL South.

Christian Liberty 3, Westminster Christian 2: Josh Beachler had Westminster's goals in this season-opening loss. Steve Biehr had 12 saves in the net for the Warriors.

Hampshire 2, Belvidere North 1: Jason Bishop scored a goal then assisted Ismael Morales on a knock as Hampshire, down 1-0 at halftime, came back to win its season opener. Andy Pederson made 7 saves in the first half and Darren Sullivan turned away 4 shots in the second half for the Whip-Purs.
