Scouting Week 7 in DuPage County

West Aurora (3-3, 1-3) at Glenbard North (6-0, 4-0)

The quick hit The Panthers allowed a fumble recovery for a touchdown last week, so the defensive streak of 22 straight scoreless quarters remains intact. Sophomore Phil Jackson, who ran for 206 yards, is the team's fourth 100-yard rusher this season.

Naperville North (3-3, 1-3) at Glenbard East (3-3, 1-3)

The quick hit Naperville North's double-wing offense is rolling with running back Idris Hanidu, who rushed for 200 yards last week. The Rams aim to get quarterback Jack Merrithey and receivers Lee Skinner and Kevin Priebe more involved in the offense.

Naperville Central (5-1, 3-1) at Wheaton North (3-3, 2-2)

Game time 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit The Redhawks have won four games by an average of 6 points. Coach Mike Stine says it's a credit to senior leaders like quarterback Nick Linne and tight end Cam Brate. Last week Falcons quarterback Taylor Graham returned from a knee injury.

West Chicago (0-6, 0-4) at WW South (5-1, 4-0)

Game time 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit Behind Brad Wilson and Deven Lopez the Wildcats had their best rushing game last week with 180 yards. WW South tackle Rocco Ammons and guard Nick Immekus have been pivotal in the Tigers' resurgent running game led by Matt Rogers.

Benet (3-3, 2-2) at Joliet Catholic (4-2, 3-1)

Game time 7:30 p.m. today at Memorial Stadium.

The quick hit Energized by its best effort of the season in last week's 24-0 win over St. Viator, Benet looks to score another big East Suburban Catholic win. Running back E.J. Howe and quarterback Luke Terna provided the Redwings with near perfect balance.

Lisle (1-5, 0-3) at Wilmington (6-0, 3-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit A tough draw for the Lions, who contend not only with no playoffs but now the No. 2 team in Class 3A. Playoff perennial Wilmington brings backfield speed, line power. Lisle plans on sustaining offensive drives with Anthony Ventrella, Jake Kretmen.

Montini (3-3, 0-2) at Aurora Central (1-5, 0-2)

Game time 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit ACC played SCC Blue leader Marmion closer than expected. ACC has physicality; what it lacks is Montini's variety of playmakers such as Nick Campanella, Jordan and Christian Westerkamp, Ryan Gorrell and quarterback Brandon Pechloff.

Neuqua Valley (2-4, 2-1) at St. Charles North (5-1, 3-1)

Game time 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit Neuqua's playoff eligibility against the North Stars' Upstate Eight chances. Wildcats leaders Joey Ippolito, Bobby Herzberger have to shine offensively, as do cornerbacks Alex Malandro and Ryan McDermott on Stars' 6-4 playmaker Jeff Stolzenburg.

Elgin (2-4, 2-1) at Waubonsie Valley (3-3, 2-2)

Game time 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit Their Upstate Eight Conference title hopes jilted by two straight losses, Waubonsie looks to jell on homecoming. Mike Barnett and Andrew Szott anchor an offensive line that wants to pave over Elgin and provide lanes for Maurice Bowman, Tre Clark.

Addison Trail (2-4, 2-1) at Willowbrook (2-4, 2-2)

Game time 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit Don't expect much passing in this one. Running back Frank Cervantes and quarterback Anthony Catanese lead the Addison Trail ground game, a tandem countered on the edges by Willowbrook defensive backs Steven Frobel and Sean Dunn.

Hinsdale South (1-5, 1-2) at Downers South (4-2, 3-0)

Game time 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit The Hornets beat Morton last week for their first win, sparked by the play on both sides of the ball by Frank Jones. If Downers South running back Josh Williams' retweaked ankle isn't better, Reggie Miller and Ryan Oruche will fill in again.

Downers North (1-5, 0-3) at Hinsdale Central (4-2, 2-1)

Game time: 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit The Trojans built another lead last week against Proviso West but then faded to become playoff ineligible. Hinsdale Central escaped Oak Park when quarterback John Whitelaw scored on a disputed 2-point conversion play in double overtime.

Yorkville (3-3, 2-2) at Glenbard South (4-2, 3-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: Glenbard South's Austin Teitsma continues to nurse a groin injury. He returned to action last week, but only on defense. The Raiders have seen steady improvement on that side of the ball thanks to Nick Slezak, Connor Douglas and Pat Childs.
