Grayslake Central edges Lakes in 10

Grayslake Central 2, Lakes 1 (10): Josh DeAngelis ended what had become a classic pitchers' duel when he lined a game-winning single to plate pinch runner Mike Silver and give Grayslake Central the victory in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Matt Murphy allowed just 1 unearned run over seven innings for the Rams. He struck out 8 and walked just one Lakes batter. Earlier, Angelo Gargano brought Grayslake Central (10-1) back from a 1-0 deficit by hitting his second home run of the year. For Lakes, starter Travis Vanderwall allowed just the home run, struck out 11 batters and walked only one. Lakes falls to 7-4 on the season.

Mundelein 5, Prairie Ridge 4: Down 4-0 through five innings, Mundelein staged a huge sixth-inning rally to get the nonconference victory. The Mustangs strung together their 5 runs on 3 Prairie Ridge errors and 2 walks. Mike O'Donoghue got Mundelein's only hit. Winning pitcher Dante Martinez recorded 6 strikeouts.

Grant 7, Johnsburg 6: Grant busted up a 6-6 tie by scoring the game-winning run in the sixth inning. Jeremy Wiker led the way with 2 doubles and an RBI while Jordan Villareal went 3-for-3 on the day, all singles. He also bagged 2 stolen bases. Winning pitcher Jared Helmich ups his record to 1-1 on the season.

Prospect 7, Warren 4: Despite jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, Warren took the nonconference loss. Scott Heelan and Ryan Kennedy each had doubles for the Blue Devils. Heelan finished with 2 hits, as did teammate Tim Bodine.
